With a (9) nine year foundation in the banking sector, Mr. Choo Quan entered the shipping industry in 1998. Through dedication and perseverance, he quickly worked his way up through the ranks of Accounts Clerk to Assistant Comptroller at Tecmarine Trinidad Limited.
During his tenure with Tecmarine, in addition to his primary job functions as Assistant Comptroller, Mr. Choo Quan was a key member of an executive team charged with the responsibility of setting up financial systems and procedures in Tecmarine's regional offices including Antigua, St. Lucia and St. Maarten. Arising from an initiative taken to establish a Regional Accounting Department based in Trinidad, Mr. Choo Quan spearheaded a finance team which functioned in the capacity of principal voyage accountants. This opportunity enabled him to gain vast exposure from the perspective of both agent and principal.
Mr. Choo Quan's experience, along with his insatiable appetite for personal growth and development gave credence to his appointment as Accounts Manager of Caribbean Shipping Agencies Ltd in April of 2003. This position he held until January 31, 2010 when he took up the post of Business Development and Human Resource Manager.
In August 2014 Mr. Choo Quan was appointed Managing Director where supported by a dynamic management team, he contributed towards solidifying Caribbean Shipping Agencies Ltd's reputation as one of leading shipping and customs brokerage service providers in the region.
Propelled by his varied job functions, the continued evolution of Mr. Choo Quan's career has enabled him to be a well rounded and highly respected servant of the shipping industry. In April 2017 Mr. Choo Quan was appointed Business Development Manager of Piarco Air Services Ltd., a subsidiary of Lazzari & Sampson Ltd. His position as a Trustee and member of the Executive Council of the S.A.T.T. gives further testament to his continued development and fuels his desire to contribute positively to achieving the goals and objectives of the S.A.T.T. and by extension the maritime sector where he anticipates he will leave a positive impression with all whom he interfaces with.
